Anti-Normalization
The project takes one of the architectural competitions as an example. The competition for designing the entrance area of a steel factory sponsored by the University of Tehran at the same time that workers all over the country were on strike, triggered the idea behind the call. The decentralized infrastructure of Over the Reality platform (OVR) enables the merging of the physical and virtual world through augmented reality and land mapping. By buying the virtual lands of the factory site on OVR, I aimed to build an entrance exactly where was requested in the original call of the competition. Through the virtual occupancy of the location and with any smart devices equipped with AR displaying technology, one can visit the proposed entrance. Due to the nature of the call that attempts to make a connection between university students and factory workers, the project refers to images from the 1968 French Revolution. The designed entrance is inspired by the famous 1968 poster of the French Revolution depicting the chimneys of a factory and post-revolutionary images of other revolutions across the globe.
